Julia Reagan Dubray

Julia doesn’t direct from behind a monitor. She works in close collaboration with her subjects, often immersing herself in their lives, perspectives, and stories. She built her career as a bilingual journalist in Buenos Aires, an experience that still drives her work: asking the right question, noticing what others miss, and creating the space for people to forget the camera is there.

An award-winning director and producer, Julia’s documentary and branded work has appeared on National Geographic, Netflix, Hulu, and CNN Films.  Her most recent film, For the Love of Strippers, premiered at the 2025 New Hampshire Film Festival and was later released on Kinema. And her 2020 film Enid & Mami, is an intimate portrait of a daughter becoming a caregiver for her mother — which went on to win the Jury Prize at BIFF and Best Documentary at the International Puerto Rican Heritage Film Festival. 

Julia approaches her TV projects with the same documentarian’s eye.  Some recent highlights of her work in television include the inaugural episode of Hulu’s Taste the Nation and multiple episodes of Netflix’s Abstract: The Art of Design (that currently have millions of views) along with various series for National Geographic.

She brings that same curiosity and care for real stories to her work with brands including Apple and Okta, finding the humanity inside even the most complex stories. 

Whatever the assignment, Julia is chasing the same thing: something real.
