When Nike set out to radically rethink sustainable design, the journey began in an unexpected place: its own waste stream. The Space Hippie crew, an unconventional team of designers and engineers, took on the mission to turn scrap materials into something bold, functional, and entirely new.
We created a short storytelling series that captured their chaotic and creative process, from failed experiments to breakthrough moments. To amplify the story, we built a social ecosystem across all of Nike’s main channels.
What emerged was a character-driven story that made sustainability feel disruptive, desirable, and unmistakably Nike.
The Space Hippie series shows what happens when nothing is off limits. Not even trash.
